WE HONOR VETERANS
Level 4 Partner
Overview
HOPE Healthcare and Hospice is proud to announce that it is now a Level 4 Partner with We Honor Veterans (WHV), a National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization program. We Honor Veterans was launched in 2010 by NHPCO in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs to address the growing need for Veteran-centered end-of-life care, especially as Veterans continue to age and require access to high-quality, specialized hospice and palliative care.
As a Level 4 partner, our organization has been actively involved in numerous activities to improve our capacity to provide Veteran-centric care at the end of life. This included integrating Veteran-specific staff education, collaborating with community organizations, ensuring best-practice standards for identifying and serving Veterans in hospice care, and implementing procedures for continuously reviewing and improving Veteran-centered care.
The Legacy Project, Honoring Our Veterans, is an innovative and unique approach to our Veteran-centric care. It enriches our services by fostering a deep connection with the veteran community, always remembering and appreciating service to our country.
"This initiative deepens our connection with the veteran community and provides a lasting tribute to their invaluable service. HOPE Healthcare and Hospice is proud to announce that it is now a Level 4 Partner with We Honor Veterans (WHV), a National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization program. Through our participation, we've integrated Veteran-specific staff education, collaborated with community organizations, and implemented best practice standards to improve our Veteran-centered care continuously."

Pinning Veterans in Hospice Care at HOPE
At HOPE, we recognize the profound sacrifices made by veterans and the importance of honoring their service with dignity and respect. A veteran pinning ceremony is a deeply meaningful gesture in hospice care, designed to acknowledge and celebrate the military service of veteran patients.
Personalized Pinning Ceremonies
At HOPE, we go beyond a one-size-fits-all approach. Our ceremonies are tailored to fit the unique preferences and comfort levels of the veteran and their family. Whether it’s a quiet, intimate moment or a more formal event, we ensure the experience reflects what matters most to them.

FAQs
-
What is a Veteran Pinning Ceremony?
It is an optional but deeply meaningful service offered by hospice providers to honor and recognize the service of veterans receiving end-of-life care. -
Who performs the ceremony?
Typically, a veteran volunteer conducts the ceremony, adding a personal and heartfelt connection. However, the ceremony may also be performed by a HOPE representative, a chaplain or spiritual representative, or the patient’s care team members. This flexibility ensures the ceremony is tailored to the veteran’s and family’s preferences, creating a meaningful and comforting experience. -
Why is this important?
These ceremonies validate and honor a veteran’s experiences while providing emotional support and comfort to their loved ones.
At HOPE, we aim to create moments of dignity, pride, and gratitude for the veteran while offering meaningful recognition to their families. Through this personalized approach, we ensure that each veteran’s legacy is honored in a way that resonates with their journey and values.
